What you’ll learn on your TESOL course
Your APEC TESOL teacher training programme is designed to develop your confidence in your knowledge, skill and abilty to teach using the ‘talk-English’ programme, successfully.
Most trainee teachers complete their course on line, except for those who feel they would like to work as a teacher trainee in Thailand to get started, including APEC’s employment-based or assessment route.
Course content
The Teacher training focuses on a number of themes, linked to teaching English: -

A knowledge and understanding of the Thai National Curriculum programmes of study for your subjects. |

Plan and prepare lessons and set a learning objective. |

Classroom management to promote acceptable behaviour and how to manage disruptions. |

Use information technology. |

Understand opportunities for student-centered-learning in out-of-school contexts, such as field trips. |

The professional and personal values expected of a teacher in attitude, and behaviour towards students and foreign colleagues. |

Developing an understanding of how, while contributing to, a collegiate environment operates. seminars. |
What are the ‘talk-English’ programme support materials?
Your ‘talk-English’ program includes: -

A job in an overseas based, reputable school or language institute. |

Your TESOL, of TEFL (TESOL), certificate, awarded for completing your internationally accredited, Online TESOL Course, if required. Either online, or through attendance at the APEC English language school in Bangkok. |

The Secretary’s Commission on Acquiring Necessary Skills (SCANS) requirement is incorporated into every lesson to elicit essential student skills such as critical thinking and working in-group tasks. |

Equipped for the Future (EFF) addresses student’s vision of their future life-long learning role as a worker, parent and as a citizen in their community. |

Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment System (CASA) standardised testing is included in most of the ‘talk-English’ > 230 lessons plans. |

The APEC “Improve Your English Grammar Work Book”. |

The APEC “Talking English for Non English Speaking Background (NESB) students” – 40 weeks of continuous student study (additional 131 Lesson Plans). Compiled by the Queensland Department of Education, Australia to have NESB student’s English proficient for entry to mainstream academic after 40 weeks of continuous study while living in the local community. |
Professional standards
The professional standards are a formal statement of what a teacher is expected to know, understand and be able follow working, and include professional values and practice: -

Requires the teacher to be confident and authoritative in their subjects; having a clear understanding of how their students should progress, and what they should reasonably be expected to achieve. |
