Does the major subject of your degree matter?
In some cases it does. If you want to teach Maths, Science, and higher level subjects, then it matters. Here your degree will usually need to be in a discipline related to the subject(s) you wish to teach. For primary teaching, you should be able to demonstrate a good general knowledge across a range of subjects.

Personal qualities and experience
At APEC we believe teaching is a vocation. It stands alone as a unique profession having unique challenges that in the main relate to the type of person you are. A thought worth considering is that as a teacher, more often than not, you are teaching others by what you don’t say, than by what you say.
Before you enroll, you are asked to consider seriously any evidence in your life demonstrating that you enjoy and thrive on the challenge of teaching other people who are often quite young children, teenagers, or adults.
Notwithstanding, APEC does not require TESOL trainees to have some previous school-based teaching experience, other than their own.
